Today, I found out less than 3 weeks before my wedding my fiancé will lose his new, great paying job unless we cancel our nonrefundable honeymoon. FML

Well, OP, which will be most benefitial in the long run? It sucks that it's non-refundable and all, but you might be able to persuade them to change the dates or something.

don't be sad. just postpone the trip. either way, it feels the same to have sex at home than in Hawaii.

Take a relative instead...I wouldn't let that money go to waste!!

Are they transferrable? If so, sell them and do something smart like pay down debt with the money or put it back on your card if you charged it, that would be the wise thing to do. At least have a weekend off somewhere close by together, if you can. Alot of people don't get a honeymoon at all. Just be glad you have a man with a good job. Some people don't have that much, you're blessed so be thankful

So basically you guys planned your honeymoon without your fiancee first consulting his job to make sure that time could be taken off? No offense...but that's kind of a YDI. Unless there's extenuating circumstances that weren't included. Either way, it sucks but you'll have to cancel the honeymoon. If he really makes good money, you'll be able to go another. Just cut your losses and try to enjoy your wedding--don't let this ruin the happiness of your special day, yknow? :)

I'm realizing now that this job is SO new that the honeymoon was planned before he got it. If so, apologies and I agree--FYL.

if it is non refundable, then there is no use in canceling. it wont be a honeymoon, but it might be a nice trip with somebody else

looks like you're gonna have to sell those quick on craigslist!

That's why you pay the extra for insurance....morons!

It'd be extremely unlikely that the insurance would pay out for OP voluntarily not going on the trip, except maybe for a death in the family. From the insurance company's point of view, this wouldn't be their problem.
