Today, I found out my 10 year old step-brother has an obsession with fire, after he burnt all the belongings in my room, including an £600 guitar. FML

He burnt *all* the belongings in your room? Question is, how did a 10 year old have free reign to burn that much stuff without anyone from the family being around to stop him, or without setting off a smoke alarm or anything?

Hmm...bit of a dilemma how to deal with this really. Well, the pyromancy issue is kind of agerelated in some cases but worth keeping an eye out for, if he pulls firestunts again force him to go to a center where they treat burnwounds and have them explain why he shouldn't, in most cases they'll gladly help and the pics they'll show will ensure he won't do it again. As for your stuff being wrecked...Easiest'd be for your parents to pay it and force your stepbro to do chores etc to earn it back. Ensure he knows why he's doing it and be sure to talk about what he did, not about him as a person since that'll have way less effect and just cause resentment. Either way I hope your (step)parents do the right thing as having you shoulder most of the damages would certainly be unfair unless you were somehow to blame for this happening (like handing him the matches) but I doubt that as then you'd have known about his pyromancic tendancies...

Sounds like your little brother needs some serious counseling. Hey, I have an idea! While he's out of the house, being counseled for his little pyro problem, go into his bedroom, set fire to his Hot Wheels and throw his TV out the window. No more Transformers before bed for you, little boy!
