People do marry people they want to stay with forever. But then real life happens, circumstances and people change, and it can become impossible to be together without being miserable. #2 and #13, the point of alimony is that you give money because they need it. If he's buying things that aren't necessities, then it looks like she's just losing that much money.

Alimony is not a necessity check. its a standard of living check. if you're accustomed to ferrari's and butlers and shit your spouse has to pay enough alimony to supplement your own earnings to the point that you can live that lifestyle. quit bitching and get over it. maybe next time you'll spend a little less time on your job and a little more time on your marriage. thats the important thing in the equation, after all.

Well, maybe he's spending "your" money on food, and whatever he gets from work and or welfare on the good stuff. If he was a stay at home guy in your relationship, you think you should just be able to hang him out to dry? That's cold and wrong. Same goes for if the man is the breadwinner and the woman is in the home.
