Today, I found out that due to the fact that I got divorced, the insurance for my car is going up. A year after she took everything, she is still costing me money. FML

The good ol' 50/50 split. She gets everything you have, you get everything you can afford from the duvorce forward, minus child support and alimony, while she never works again. Great system isn't it?

What's hers is hers, and what's yours is also hers. Take solace in the fact that she's no longer in your life.

I know how you feel. She gets everything and you get the bills. You are lucky she didn't get the car too and still leave you with the insurance bill

With these crazy laws going around, I'm not too surprised that more and more guys won't get married. Why women are so selfish just blows me. If she doesn't work and he can't pay enough, FIND A JOB. Women ALWAYS go back to court to get more and more child support for ONE child. I knew someone getting paid 1,500 a month for her baby...

Not all women are like that ...

Agreed. After my mom got divorced, sure she got child support which covered rent but for food, bills, and the myriad of expenses associated with raising a young child, at one point she was working 5 jobs to make things work. Then she went down to 2 jobs and a student loan while she went to school, and now she only has 1 job, which is part of a union. Yeah, okay, you got 3 kids under the age of school and your lover's out winning the breadmoney, be a stay-at-home mom and raise your kids. That's fine by me. Otherwise, quitcher bitchin and get off your fat lazy ass and get a job. All you're doing now is teaching your kids that laziness is rewarded, and GUESS WHAT? When they grow up, they won't wanna get jobs either, and then THEY will be freeloading on YOU! And you without any child support to take care of this now-adult, as well as taking care of your own incompetent ass. Karma, bitch!

Two sides to a story. We are only getting the one. Maybe, OPs ex wife deserves his money because he abused her or cheated.

Or maybe the ex wife is truly a spiteful crazy woman with CBD.

Yeah. It's his money... But he got lower rates BECAUSE he was married. She didnt cause his rates to go up, they'd of been that way if he'd never gotten married.

Is anyone taking into account that him saying that she took half his stuff could just mean that she took what was rightfully her to begin with? They could have been paying for stuff jointly all the time which would mean that yes, half of it belonged to her. The whole reason that stuff tends to get divided down the middle is because of the fact that both parties tend to be paying for it.

So actually, she was saving you money dude. Think about it.

That's how life works. No risk no fun.

Why is divorce so expensive? Because it's worth it. Would you rather save a few bucks and still have your liver constantly pecked at by that soulless harpie hellhound who destroys your chances at even finding a shred of joy from a woman who actually might give a tiny bit of a shit about you? Well, would you?! I think not.

get used to it, divorce is never final! i call it paying a married half, meaning the dude pays 80%

Ignore the prenuptial comments. Idiots don't understand crap. Your ex is not costing you more, it's the idea of some insurance bean counter. The theory is married guys are more risk averse, and therefore less likely to do something stupid in a car. There is evidence to back this up. Less time to hang out with friends, less likely to get permission to race, and so on. So married guys pay less insurance. Up to around age 30 or 35 anyway, after that marriage has no effect on insurance.

It could be worse, I suppose. This...is the thing that makes me hesitate to get married. I'm gonna do it anyway, though. |the kid|
