Today, I found out that I'm failing this semester because I've missed too many classes. I've missed the classes because I've been having panic attacks, a symptom of my anxiety disorder. I got the anxiety disorder because I was so afraid of failing school. FML

Smoke some weed. That will help with the anxiety. Also, realise that there is more to life then good grades. They help sure but they are not the be all and end all. And life really begins after you finish school. Not during.

Speak with your school's disability services. I've had the same thing happen to me before, and it ish totally not cool.

mmm that irony is absolutely delicious. Thank you.

as for the panic disorder, i understand. As for the school, i understand that as well. Know that there are always programs out there to help you. If you fail classes, all you have to do is retake them. Annoying, yes, but you will not fail school if you take them again. Summer school, skinny classes, and online classes are a great way for taking your classes again. even if it is 4 credits, you will still make it. High school curriculum usually leave gaps in the senior and junior years, for just this reason. Do you know how many jnrs and snrs are in freshman classes because they failed the first time around? The bottom line is, schools want you to succeed, and there are several options even if something bad happens. The only thing you really need your GPA for is college, and if something happens where you did bad and they did not accept you, you can always transfer from another university. After that, all anyone needs to know is that you graduated. While some jobs (restaurants, stores) ask for your GPA, they don't care. There are several people that make a living working for Target, etc. and have not graduated. If you are in college, try taking a smaller amount of classes. Or , what my aunt did, take the classes that interest you the most. You will start to get used to the whole lifestyle, and it would keep your interest. Save the evil classes that bore for when you are more stable. My aunt is taking her math classes in the last year, because she hates it and knows that she would do better when it is the last thing standing in her way. As for the anxiety, the worst thing that you can do is leave it unchecked. If you do not have Life Insurance, there are several clinics that will strike a deal with you, like paying in increments or something. Several doctors give out the free samples that they have of the drugs. you just need to shop around for a kind-hearted doc. Most want to help.

Ouch...talk about your vicious cycles, huh?

I was under the impression that schools had special programs for that sort of thing. Perhaps some summer credit? OUCH for the anxiety thing. I've hung aroung a couple of friends who have fuges sometimes... Dx Hugs just make them worse.

I'm so sorry I actually went through this same thing! I was put on academic probation last semester and diagnosed with extreme anxiety. Any time I went into class I had a panic attack and would have to leave. It was impossible to pass my classes or even at least be there. I don't think I can go back......I'm terrified to take medication. I still can't bring myself to tell my parents I can't stay in school. I'm so afraid to fail I can't make it through a single 1 hour class.

my ex had this exact same thing..crazy

I had that over the summer due to working too much. Go see a therapist as quickly as possible and try to figure out what triggers you exactly. The only way to get rid of them is to expose yourself to your trigger until your body realizes its not going to harm/kill you. Trust me, and feel better

Stop being such a victim... if a Navy SEAL can swim for miles and then climb their asses off the beach to assault a building with well armed bad guys.... you can get on that school bus and go to school OPTION 1) #1 calm yourself down #2 go to school because you want to do well in life - or - OPTION 2) stay home, beat yourself up, and enter a downward spiral of drugs/prescription drugs/alcohol where you are always compensating for your fear instead of facing it directly. I'm sure this option won't affect your future personal relationships or future career. Chain smoking and throwing your money away at the lotto will inevitably be a part of this.

Been there. I know how much it sucks. get the anxiety diagnosed by a doctor if you haven't already then go talk to the dean. Most deans will be understanding and will guide you on getting through the rough patch and keep you in school. If the dean doesn't help, get an education lawyer. Anxiety Disorder is a recognized dissability in most countries.
