Congrats to you and your boyfriend. Keep in mind, he might have just been in shock at the news. A lot of young parents go through some disbelief when confronted with an unexpected, if not entirely unplanned, pregnancy. Unless he's a total dick, I'm sure he will come around to the idea, if he hasn't already. :)

I see no reason why any girl would ever want to get pregnant to keep her man around. A baby isn't going to keep a man around anyway. If he wants to leave, he will leave. And why would anyone want to be with someone that doesn't want to be with them anyway? It wouldn't be very rewarding. She basically changes her entire life and body, brings a being into the world that requires incredible amounts of attention and patience, as well as finances. She would have to put her career on hold for a little while possibly. All for an unhealthy relationship? I don't see it happening. That being said, I'm sorry you're in such a trying position OP.

Even though BOTH the people made the baby, only the mother has to take responsibility? Bullshit. They don't have to stay together, but the man doesn't get to do whatever the **** he wants. He needs to help in some way. They both make the baby, they both care for it. If you're a guy and you run away from the pregnancy, how the **** do you think the mother feels? She's trapped. Be a man and take responsibility in some way.

Who said anything about not taking responsibility? I'm pointing out that a smart woman would not intentionally get pregnant to keep a man because in some earlier comments that came up in topic. His taking responsibility has nothing to do with being happily in love.

I realize it's not your fault but it has happened to me before. I had a girlfriend do that same thing to me, where she claimed to be pregnant but wasn't. I wish you luck. It ruined our relationship because she tried to manipulate it.
