Today, I found out that I will be spending my spring break alone because my family is going to France. I can't go with them nor go with any of my friends because I have to take care of the cat. FML

Way too much of this story not told by OP! All the posts are right-- if your family wanted you to go, there are plenty of answers. (OP is fat and lazy and just got a job after laying around 5 years, OP would not pay her part, etc....)

I have to agree. There are plenty of solutions to this; kennels, neighbour etc. There must be something the OP hasn't told us. I had various pets when I was younger (hamster, guinea pigs) and we'd just organise someone to look after them for us and either give them the food or the money for the food. Presently we have five cats, that're half wild and we can just leave them with some food for a week and they just catch their own food till we get back. If the OP cared so much they'd have organised someone else to look after the cat.
