you bring shame to us canadians
You didn't say sorry?!
Dude, when you apologize in this case, you are not apologizing to the dog but to your boss.
Wow Guess you learned how to say sorry today..
Irisiridescent.... You have met some ****** up trainers then or you watch too much of Caesar Milan and don't understand the context of his methods. I treat my dog like family, like a four legged kid, and she is SO in tune with me, it's unreal. If I step on her paw or something (one time my bf picked me up to hug me and Opie- my dog- was right behind me- I didn't know obviously- and she took a boot to the chin and yelped really loud). Anytime something like that happens I squat so I am face to face with her and tell her "I'm sorry Opa-Doodle!" and give her a hug. She has a few nick names and knows them because she starts prancing around and gets super happy, so I use that in my apologies and she knows if pain was accidentally inflicted and so she's reinforced to know she did nothing wrong. On the other hand, if I pop her on her hip for doing something bad, or snap my finger and point at her, and sharply say "no ma'am!" she lays her ears back and ducks her head and looks up at me as if to tell ME she's sorry. If you believe otherwise, or that you have to be Alfa dog and bite a dogs damn ear to show them you're in control.... You need serious help. There are other ways to be "top dog" so that your dog obeys you, but you get to have a deeper, better connection with them. Because if you don't see them as a companion or family and just treat them as submissive beasts, why the **** do you even have them?! /endrant
What kind of person doesn't say sorry? Especially if it's your boss. But even in general. You should know by now how people feel about their animals, especially those who bring them into work. It also says a lot about your character if you don't apologize for something like that. I would've fired you too.

My immediate reaction is to apologize haha maybe you should try it

Well why wouldn't you say sorry? Dogs have feelings too.
