Today, I found out that my daughter's "pen pal" is really a 58-year-old man in prison. FML

So? People in prison need pen pals too.. I don't see anything wrong with it unless there was inappropriate things written in the letters.

Perhaps you should make an effort to be the first one to the mailbox from now on.

Why didn't you ask her questions about her "pen pal" when you found out she had one?????

I thought dads would approve of their daughters having "pen pals" who are in the pen. No pregnancies, no STDs. What's not to like?

Do we need to write OP's daughter too, perdix? ;) We have to make sure to do it ASSASSP.

I don't think it's that bad. Not everybody in prison is a murderer. Some people make mistakes when they're younger and regret it. OP, your daughter's letters might be the only good thing in his life...

why will a 58 year-old man write to OP's daughter from prison??... for my poor imagination, I can only guess the prisoner is somehow related to OP's daugher or even OP himself/herself... OP, is your daughter adopted??

It's obvious that Op's daughter would have had to write to the prisoner- not the other way around. And it's so easy to write to prisoners. Just google it and you can write to anyone, anywhere.

Good God all of these assumption and innuendoes...

How the hell did she find out this man's information?!

Google. It's easy. They put profiles up asking for penpals

you know that school could've chosen these prisoners for pen pals too right?

Ok, while agree there are some people in prison that are nice, would you like it if your daughter (who I have to assume still lives at home and is young) is writing a 58 year old man that could get out and come after her? Sorry but no thanks! You are being a good parent OP.
