I'd talk to him about it. He may have done that right when you first met and has just put off changing it cause it may make him happy to see how far the relationship has come. My guess is since you two have been together for so long, he probably really does care about you more than just for your ******. If he didn't like/love you for more than that I'm sure he would have broke it off a long time ago!
