If it were my house the bird would be skinned out and cooked and the body stuffed for a study skin, or the wings and feet saved for art, the skull cleaned and the body feathers plucked and used in art. Not heartless, but I find making sure that animals death is not wasted far more ethical and honouring of it's life than throwing it in the ground to rot. I use every part of any dead animal I come across. Guts are the only thing I discard and I throw those into the woods for the magpies to eat

I have funerals for birds. My sister finds dead birds, we get a long shovel, scoop it, and bury it. It's actually quite fun.
