this actually happened to my college roommate during our freshman year. i would think she was sleeping, then she would start texting away on her phone. the next day, she'd see complete and coherent conversations from herself to whoever it was she was texting, and have absolutely no recollection of sending them. it was rather unnerving to see her sit up like the exorcist and grab her phone XD
Well, just tell them about it, so that they will be aware that "awkward" text messages from you might not actually be...from You.
Thats considered sleep-texting darlin
Once my friend texted me at 1 AM, and apparently I woke up just enough to text back. He sent 'there's an app that lets you make Pokemon and send them straight into your game' and it took me 20 minutes to reply 'does that make us normpl type! Lo' To this day I have no idea what I was trying to say.
uhm but if you are texting them can't you just check what and how many times you wrote to them while sleeping?

I'm curious what these texts are. Nonsense? A love confession? Asking for mommy?
Maybe you should lock it or hide it before sleeping
