I notice that a lot of women support the OP saying that it's her body and her choice, and I would agree with them on that point. However, that being said, don't expect many men in this culture to be attracted to that in any way. Sure it's your choice to shave, but I don't see how the boyfriend's ribbing is surprising as I imagine the OP, like most other women, understand that in this culture most men have an extreme dislike of leg hair. Your choice is your choice but you can't expect everyone to back you when they find it displeasing.
Thank You! finally someone who understands! I agree with you 100%
Thats as much of a myth as the one going around that men only like skinny women with big ****. Takes all kinds to love all kinds doesn't it. I have never shaven my legs and have never had one bf complain about it. The only place I shave with any regularity is under my arms and still no complaints.
Obviously if they're dating you they're not going to be bothered by it, but it would be disingenuous to construe them as the majority of men.
I understand it is your choice, but I'd hate not to shave. I wouldn't feel attractive at all. It's good that you're confident enough not to.
You all make me sick. This is blatant evidence of how out of whack our society's morals are. So she doesn't mutilate her body, big ******* deal.
Uhh it's not really about morals, its about what guys like...Most guys would prefer to feel a smooth leg than a hairy one...it just feels better. I'm not intentionally trying to be shallow about it, but its just a turn-off, can't help it.
It's not morals so much as attracting a mate or fitting in. Most women shave because most men/women prefer that a woman they're involved with has shaved legs or they feel insecure about being hairy whilst wearing more revealing clothing. Just like most women in our culture don't think it's particularly attractive of a man to have an ultra-hairy back. It just cultural aesthetics.
Well if you got together and have always shaved and just suddenly decide you dont want to anymore you kinda have to expect some kind of reaction. It could be a lot worse but its your own fault for not shaving anymore. If the worst of it is a little joking around, joke with him. As long as he still finds you desirable with or without hair who cares if he has a silly nickname for you. If it bothers you that bad ask him to stop.
If women have to shave so do guys. That's just my two cents right there. Body hair is nasty DX
well, nvm actually. as long as shes clean. props to 38 i think it was.... my mind has been changed.
FYI leg hair is only course and noticable AFTER you have shaved it out once. Those of you with darker body hair take a look at your arms that have never been shaved, is the hair really noticable, that hair is the same as what is on yr legs, if you hadn't begun shaving you would not have to continue it. I have never shaved my legs and I do not have noticable leg hair possibly helped by the fact my body hair is blond. Body hair is needed to regulate temperature thats why we get goosebumps, its all the little hairs standing up. If we didn't need the hair we would not grow it stop being so stupid and naive about body hair and grow up, the lot of you.
Why is it that people continue to think that shaving somehow alters your leg hair's DNA so it grows back differently? Your arm hair and your are different because they are different types of hair. You don't trim your arm hairs right? Then why on earth don't they grow as long as your head hair? Is your crotch hair as soft as your arm hair? Also a different type of hair. All hair is different. Shaving only causes the perception of hair growing back coarser because when it initially grows back in it feels stiffer because it is not as long. I have shaved AND waxed my leg hair. If I were to let it grow out naturally, which I've only done during finals, it goes from being "course" feeling to very soft. My leg hair grows in blonde too, so you can't see it.
All body hair is the same but different from pubic hair and different from head hair. Leg and arm hair is the same type of hair. Hair DOES grow thicker once it has been cut, think of how soft a babies head hair is before its first cut. Leg hair should be fine enough not to shave and tbh should not be noticable. Why do so many women complain of course horrible leg hair when they shave yet I have no complaints of my legs being prickly or hairy or anything.
304 - Yup, it's a myth. Hair grows in tapered, but once you cut it with a razor you're cutting it straight across, so it looks thicker.
why would you stop shaving in the first place?..
