Today, I found out that the man who offered to put up the woman I love in exchange for me helping out with his rent, has in fact been her "other" boyfriend since before she moved in. FML

"put up" means give a place to stay. I think he means that he was paying for his girlfriend to live with the guy she was cheating on him with.

This wording of the matter actually makes sense. btw, what if she's not his gf? He just said that she's the woman he loves, not his gf... OP has also put the word "other" in quotes, meaning that he's not her original boyfriend. So, maybe, everything is actually normal except for OP being extremely naive? Well I don't mean something bad by this. I don't judge people unless they're not ME. Just follow me: there's a pair of people, they're dating, everything is OK. One of them lives in the apartement and is renting it, but prefers to live alone instead of letting his gf to move in with him. On the other hand, his gf is loved by the OP. She complains to the OP about her, living with her parents, not being able to move somewhere else. OP goes to his pal (in our case - to her boyfriend): OP: Well, you know, this girl, July, wants to live apart of her parents but doesn't have money for that. She also doesn't want to live with me as she doesn't like me. I'd like to give her a gift and let her rent the apartement but I don't have enough money to rent it all. OUR SMART GUY: well, then let me offer you the following - you help me with the rent, I put her up. OP: OK OUR SMART GUY: Woohoo! two rabbits killed with one shot. later on: OUR SMART GUY: by the way, I just bought her flowers OP: what the hell? WHY? OUR SMART GUY: we're dating. ehm, haven't you heard? OP: FML. Let me post it on Fmylife.

I seriously teared up reading your fml, honestly maybe it's for the best that you leave her and take whatever belongs to you back with you. I Seriously dont find a reason why the op deserve's to be cheated on, he didnt even know that **** ****** was HER GIRLFRIEND'S "OTHER" BOYFRIEND BEFORE THEY EVEN MOVED IN, grow a damn heart.
