Today, I frantically told my parents that my bank account had no money. Turns out, they took the $1,600 I had saved up from a summer job and invested it in penny-stocks. I was grounded because they were "doing it for the family," and I'm being selfish. They also had lost it all in a matter of days. FML

How did they get access to your account? And doesn't the bank notify you when you take out a large amount of money? Your parents are ****** up and should be paying you back for their stupidity.

That sucks, OP. Maybe you can get them to pay you back eventually ):

Shouldn't have allowed anybody else access to your account. If anything be allowed to put money in, not out.

Parents steal money and then ground child for them stealing child's money... A-holes. I'm sorry.

Unless your like 15 or something, might be wise to remove mom and pop from your account.

My dad--the alcoholic narcissistic child-and-wife-and employee-abusing thief--opened an account for me when I was in college. When I found out that, in Missouri, this entitled me to only put money IN and that only HE could take it out, I had to threaten him with letting an attorney take it ALL as legal services fees before he would let me have MY money. Lesson almost learned.

Are your parents 13? They really don't understand the concept of money...
