They should use their own money, not their kid's money.
I don't understand all these posts I see about peoples parents taking their money from them. Is it just me or is it not common sense that the only person who should be able to access your money is you? If you make it that way then this is no longer a possibility.
That sucks, OP! See if you can get them to use their own dang money next time. Also, if they are allowed to take YOUR money "for the family," then you should be able to have access to their account. I hope they realize how stupid they were being and that they pay you back.
I would sell some of their things until you regain the $1600. Also close you bank account right away with you current bank and open a new account with a different bank. You should be able to do this without parent consent. After all that tell them they now owe you in interest and penalties another $400. If none of that works open a few credit cards in their names and just hit the ATM until you get back what you are owed.
Or don't. Since, you know, that's illegal. Doing so could have serious consequences. What the parents did was probably not illegal, just unethical and shitty.
So you were saving money, presumably for college, and your parents stole it from you, and they're calling you selfish? If you can open another account that they can't access, do so. And try to get a scholarship to a college far, far away. You might want to see what legal options exist in your state. And as soon as you can move out, do so.
They need to pay you back! That was YOUR money and they had no right to take it!
thats bs. that was ur money and that was theft. report them. tgey dod not co tributw t that money nor ask t use it.
I feel so bad for you:(

How did they get access to your account? And doesn't the bank notify you when you take out a large amount of money? Your parents are ****** up and should be paying you back for their stupidity.
That sucks, OP. Maybe you can get them to pay you back eventually ):
