Today, I got fired for saving my company upwards of $6,000. I'm as confused as you are. FML
I agree, your life sucks 33 243
You deserved it 2 360

Grindwhore tells us more.

They have yet to give me a reason why, I'm still confused as hell.

The only way I could understand you getting fired was if your manager wanted to run his company into the ground and you saving money ruined his master plan

File a wrongful termination lawsuit

I'm guessing you worked in a charity and decided to "take care" of an orphanage.

But how exactly did you save the $6,000+

"DAMN IT, WE DON'T WANT TO SAVE MONEY! Why do you think we didn't switch to Geico?"

In some businesses, nobody cares about how the company does. They just want to mooch as much money of it's decaying carcass as possible before it goes under. Generally speaking, cost savings makes it harder to do that.

It all just comes down to how you made that money, and also whether or not it was your job to do so. A lot of places will not allow random employees to try and make changes, even if they're beneficial, simply because the risk of allowing untrained employees to do so outweighs the possible benefits. If it wasn't your place to save that money, you could have just been fired as a liability. "Sure, so-and-so earned us 6,000 dollars, but what's to stop him/her from losing us that much next time?"

Makes sense to me. Shame there seems to be some weepy soul going through thumbing down every comment that expresses the tiniest sliver of skepticism about this conspicuously detail-free story.

I think they were expecting you to save the whole $12,000, not pocket half of it.
