Today, I got hit by a car while riding my bike to work. In the hospital, every single nurse lectured me about how I wouldn't be here if I wore a helmet, which I'm sure would be really helpful to my broken leg. FML

It wouldn't help your leg, but you should be wearing one!

Yeah, you should get a helmet for your leg.

Well, you should wear a helmet. Having been hit it should make you think, "what if I had hit my head?", you'd be a lot worse off than you are having broken your leg. But, the lectures about how it would have kept you out of the hospital are kind of stupid in this case; they aren't wrong that you should wear a helmet, but it doesn't help your leg.

do you wear a helmet in a car? did you know that there are more head injuries in cars than bicycles and that most of them could be saved by wearing a helmet?

Glad you're okay... Buy a helmet for your leg..ok? #seriousface

Did that nurse study from the wrong textbook, too?

I would've lied and said I had been wearing a helmet to shut them up... and then started wearing a helmet once my leg healed.

Fun fact: you are actually more likely to be hit by a car if you're wearing a helmet.

Is it because your more noticeable and you give something for the drivers to aim at?

I agree with you not wearing a helmet, who the **** dous exept for tourists... you'd look like a moron who can't bike

You sound like someone from the Netherlands. That's our opinion of people with helmets as well haha. But I get wearing a helmet in some cities where there are no cycling lanes and stuff like that.

I don't get the name. I know what a TARDIS is. I just don't get the user name.

Helmet and maybe knee pads and whatever else wouldn't be a bad idea
