Oh, God, your life SUCKS. My dad wouldn't even want to KNOW I started my period. :) He'll just have my mom take care of it. :)

Ah! The step into women hood! lol, you're dad only meant well. Men tend to act weird about these things. I remember years ago when I had gotten mine. My mother had past away so my grandmother was the one to head up these kind of things. We were camping and I had gotten my period and got incredibly embarrased... I didn't have any type of product and had to ask my grandma if we could go get some. Embarrased, I whispered, "I need pads." She couldn't understand what I was saying and then yelled out loud what she thought I said, "What? You need knee pads?" When I corrected her, she then yelled loud enough for the campground to hear, "Oh! You need pads! Why not tampons? That way you can still swim!" I had to endure strange looks from the young boy that was about my age in the campsite right next to us. Basically, I guess I'm saying it could always be worse. :-)

why is this posted here? you started your period and your family signed a card. big deal. most girls get a period, just because your family signed a card doesn't make your first period story worthy of being posted here, i don't understand why they let it through.

reading these comments, wtf flowers for starting your period? how ****** up are your families? ahah. i was 9 when i started and coz i shared a bathroom with my whole family then i looked in the cupboard and found some pads and used them. before then i would laugh at my sister when she was on her period and tell her she was wearing a nappy. i think that's whats made her want to use tampons lol.
