How did you know you started your period during the interview unless you left during it? In which case, couldn't you have tried to clean up a little bit? Still, FYL indeed. If the employer thinks that's a reason to not hire you, you probably don't want to work for him/her anyway.
You don't have to actually see anything to know you've started your period... she probably just felt it during the interview.
It can be an extremely obvious and distinct feeling. That's like not noticing that you peed yourself.
Well she said it started during the interview... So no.
Um...I don't think emailing a potential employer about menstruation would be the best idea. They would probably see that as unprofessional.
Sometimes it sucks to be a girl.
Oh the joys of being a woman
Bring a towel?
I am the OP. well, the thing is I am never early, mostly late by 2-3 days, so have never been very cautious before the d-day. And I always get warning cramps for 12 hrs before actually starting. I was interviewing at a consultants firm and was in the final round with just two other male candidates standing. I had to face a panel of 5 senior menbers of the firm, ALL men (hiven my luck, it just had to be that way!!). The moment i sat down, i started to feel that very strange yet very familiar pain in my guts but i just had to brave trough the pain. And the last nail in the coffen, I was wearing beige trousers, and I sat down on that god-awful chair for almost 45 mins... I personally think if all the villains in the world got together, they couldnt have planned a better attack on my career.
Mine's never early but after reading what happened to you, I'm gonna make sure I'm prepared a couple of days in advance! Horrifying! FYL, indeed.
Aw, that's awful :/I'm really sorry for you. Maybe a better door will open soon, and you'll be glad you didn't get the job :) you never really know how life works. Onward !
yes, that is what I am looking foward too. I still might have a chance, who knows!
If you're open to the idea of contraceptives OP, I'd recommend going on the pill. It lets you regulate your period whenever you want, and makes work-life a lot easier. I always plan my period for weekends now so that I don't have to deal with them during work days.
I once made an embarrassing mistake at an interview, and handled it with as much aplomb as I could. Then I remarked that it's not often an employer gets to see how a candidate handles an embarrassing incident. I got the job, on the spot. Better luck next time, OP!
Be positive, The interviewers might have a period fetish :)
I love being a woman. But moments like these just make me wanna choke the hell outa Mother Nature and Eve.
Good luck. Hopefully they concentrated on the substance of your interview and how you answered their questions rather than the faux pas you committed while leaving.

Oh bloody hell!
They would probably never even have noticed if you had just walked out normally
