Today, I got my retainer fitted. It stimulates my gag reflex so badly that I gag every time I try so say anything with a 'P' in it. My orthodontist laughed and suggested I get a thesaurus. FML

I feel for you, OP. I have a slur every time I wear mine. Couldn't talk worth anything the first week. My orthodontist made fun of how high the arch was. It'll get better!

You're entitled to ask the orthodontist to reshape the part that covers your palate so it doesn't make you gag.
