Today, I got my two-year-old's Halloween costume in the mail. I tried it on him to make sure it fit. He loves it so much that he is now having a complete meltdown because he wants to go trick-or-treating. He doesn't understand we only go trick-or-treating on Halloween. 23 more days to go. FML

OP here! First off, for all the people inquiring about what the costume is, it is a plush dinosaur that his legs go into and his upper half sticks out of it. You can see a picture of it if you search "dinosaur" at costume express. And the issue isnt that he loves the costume, in fact he hated putting it on at first. The issue is that he wants candy and he wants candy RIGHT NOW. Thanks for all the suggestions. But now that a day has gone by, the costume is in a closet and he seems to have forgotten all about it.

My candy never got past the second day. My father would be passed out on the floor surrounded by candy wrappers

Tell him tomorrow is Halloween and let him trick and treat. He's only 2, he won't remember it.

Let him Trick-Or-Treat in the hallways of your house.

go trick or treating around your house like knocking on different doors to practice

He's prolly thinking "why is she teasing me?" ... you should buy candy, put it in the hands of your neighbors, and then you can go tot (explain to em or risk being called stupid) OR just keep buying him candy till the 23 days arrive.

He's two. Hide the costume after he goes to bed one night. Don't bring it up. He'll forget.

The only logical advise on this feed. Thank You!

op halloween comes once a year. let your child have fun and wear the heck out of it. My kids wear them to the store if they want all year round haha. I am parenting differently them some but my kids are very happy and loved.... fyi this actually a great time for to to practice his "trick or treat" skills for the big day :-)

That's the exact situation I am in now! except my two year old is running around on all fours barking like a dog. I keep trying to put it up and hide it from him. he just keeps digging it out. -.- dread the day after halloween when you have to tell him halloween is over and no more costume. :p

My sister's kid wears costumes all the time. They bought them in bulk and he gets to choose what he wears, because he is a toddler and no one cares if they are in costume or not. Why do you have to take the costume away from them?
