Today, I got sent home from work for appearing stoned/under the influence of drugs. I suffer from severe hay fever, which no antihistamine has fixed yet, hence the red and glassy eyes. FML

Seriously, tell them it's hayfever, and they can have you tested if they want, if you're innocent? Not difficult. YDI for not standing up for yourself.

I have bad hay fever myself, and I once made the mistake of taking two Benadryl before a big meeting. For those who don't know, Benadryl are notorious for making you sleepy - hence the warning about not taking them before operating heavy machinery. I fell asleep during the meeting and got chewed out (nicely, but still) by my boss afterwards.

to those calling ydi on this situation.. I've been in the same situation. first of all, hayfever is not really a fever. Its a powerfull allergic reaction caused by the pollen of plants. The symtoms very mutch from person to person. I myself am very allergic and no amount of medicine will cure the symtoms. My boss however was only mildly allergic (he had a smaller case of hayfever) so he would not believe my symtoms and tried to fire me as an addict too. This might seem an easy case for the lot of you but if your boss is the kind of "Clint Eastwood" hardass there ain't mutch you are going to do about it. I went to court and won some money back but hardly enough to pay the legal fees.

i am the same as the OP. Im taking Zyrtec, nasonex and singulair every day. It is the only combo that works for me and they are non drowsy meds, so it wont affect your work performance.

I had really bad hay fever recently, to the extent of bad neck pain. My doc put me on antibiotics, flonase, claritin-d, and nyquil. Cleared that up after a few weeks.

Just a happy little fact: 'Singulair Increases the risk of asthma related death' --Happy Breathing!

Flonase is the only medication that actually works for me. It's the only thing that keeps me functional during ragweed season. highly recommend it.

Make yourself some special brownies, that'll make you feel better about yourself. Or it'll make you feel nothing but hunger, either way...

Twinkiestar wasn't talking about the South. S/he said "Southland" as in New Zealand, which is where the post is from.

Yeah, so OP is supposed to wait 4-6 months to go back to work because of allergies?

Don't feel bad. People think I'm always tweaking because I have dark circles under my eyes (have had them since I'm a kid), am pale, and shake a lot because I consume nothing but sugar and caffeine. Use it to your advantage and sell your friends Advil for 15 bucks a pop. Just don't tell 'em what it is and say it "***** you up good, man!"
