Always have a backup plan for ways to get home, and maybe get some self defense or other protection. Even if it's just pepper spray, a taser, or stun gun, a small blade, or purse sized gun. There's so many options today, that there's becoming fewer excuses for situations like this. Helpless damsel in distress stuff. Yes, us ladies in some situations are physically weaker than guys. That's what weapons are for, or self defense/ martial arts training. To subdue a threat without harm or death unless it's an absolutely last resort. For finding a way home, drunk or not, that is also on you. That's what cabs are for. Or the police to again, take care of the guy. Or tell the bartender. Come on. and yes I've been in a situation where I should have also brought some defense but something worse happened to me by force with no consent. So instead of sounding heartless, take it as me and other people passing down hindsight knowledge for future occurrences. No one plans to be harassed or attacked or raped, but it pays to be prepared. Being a natural introvert also helps prevent most things because you don't go to dangerous places like bars, clubs, etc. Obviously that isn't something one can control, but it's an advantage. Also obviously, people can come to your house or a friends house but I'm just saying it cuts down on the possible locations lol. When I was raped, had I had some weapon on me, I would not have been scared motionless with my brain farting. Feeling helpless does that, so having protection is the clear answer. Did not have the physical strength to push him off or budge him at all, so had nothing. A way to fight back. Hope. Something.
I'm sorry that happened to you that sounds rough but carrying a weapon is way more dangerous than not. You're literally handing them ways to hurt you.
Why would they not believe you when you said you were already there? That doesn't make sense unless you are known for being a notorious liar. I'm getting the feeling you're leaving out pertinent details. ydi
Why didnt you feel safe to drive home? What happened after 2 hours? I feel like you're leaving out important details. ydi

Did you tell the guy at the bar you weren't interested? Or tell the barkeeper that a gentlemen is being a bother
I'm mostly going to say YDI(being stuck at the bar) because clearly you didn't have a back-up plan, like calling a cab.
