Today, I had a chest x-ray. I thought everything was okay, that is until the tech gasped slightly and muttered, "Mother of God." I asked him what was wrong, and he kept insisting he had no idea what I was talking about. Now I'm so upset I can't even sleep. FML

Actually, he can't say jack shit to him. He's a tech - his job is to take the X-ray, not to interpret it. It would be ethically reprehensible for the tech to tell him anything. It's just as wrong for the tech to say what he did.

Wow, the amount of ignorance swirling around here is staggering. You're all wrong. The tech is not supposed to say anything, so no one got trolled. And the amount of radiation from a chest X-ray is 0.1 mSv, or the same radiation you're exposed to just living for 10 days.

Maybe he's just one of those asshole doctors who pretends something is wrong with you just so he could get more money off of procedures. :P I went to one of those people once. Ended up paying way more than I should have.

OP is in Canada, individuals don't pay for healthcare so there's no point in doctors running unnecessary tests...

You're fine. Why worry? If you really were ill you would have been admitted. And you would have had several consultants looking at you quizzically and offering you morphine because 'it's the good stuff' and it would stop the unbelievable pain. You may well have had to wear a CPAP mask. Get over it

Maybe you've got like the biggest man-boobs he's ever seen so he just doesn't wanna admit it.

Gotta love our medical system eh op? It's probably what? 2-3 weeks til you get a result, then 4 months to see the doctor. Nothing like not knowing if it's something minor or something major for weeks on end. Hell I don't even know what procedure was done on me because I was knocked out and they said they'd decide when they got me into the or if they were going with more invasive or less so... And the test was done in February. :/

Don't worry, i hope everything turns out well!! Maybe the tech had never seen a sexier chest x-ray before lol!!

According to law the xray techs cannot give you any information. Maybe he saw a spider and he was scared, then embarrassed?

Thank you! I was actually wondering how long it would take before the doctor got a hold of the images.
