I think you finally knocked some sense into them, but then again, I love a good argument.
You do know that x-rays along with other imaging scans are tests to determine if everything is normal, right? Then a radiologist will interpret and report to the ordering physician. After that, the doctor gets back to the patient. So no, the doctors in reality very well may not actually know yet...
I would hate to be in your position but look on the bright side, if there is something wrong then at least it's been found and you can start treating it. If something's there you want to catch it as early as possible. Just try and keep yourself busy untill you get the results.
Maybe he realized he left the stove on at home.
DocBastard - if the tech isn't supposed to say anything, then they SHOULDN'T HAVE SAiD ANYTHING. Instead, they said something that generally means "you are completely f*cked" and refused to acknowledge they said anything, rather than be professional and say "I'll have the doctor talk to you." so yes, that tech was a complete d*bag.
Doc is right about this matter, the tech is actually not allowed to say ANYTHING to the patient regarding the scan other than if it was successful or not; doing so could get him fired on the spot for violating serious protocol - I know because I worked in Radiology at a hospital for a bit. Yes, it was inappropriate and a bit inconsiderate for the tech to make a comment like that, but sadly he still had rules to follow.
Maybe he was startled by something that had nothing to do with you, like a spider or something like that. If it was something that concerned your health, I'm sure you would have been told.
The OP is a man.

Actually, he can't say jack shit to him. He's a tech - his job is to take the X-ray, not to interpret it. It would be ethically reprehensible for the tech to tell him anything. It's just as wrong for the tech to say what he did.
Wow, the amount of ignorance swirling around here is staggering. You're all wrong. The tech is not supposed to say anything, so no one got trolled. And the amount of radiation from a chest X-ray is 0.1 mSv, or the same radiation you're exposed to just living for 10 days.
