Today, I had a date with a guy from the Internet. I'm 6ft1, which tends to put potential dates off, so I'd slyly knocked a few inches off my description. Turns out he'd done the same. He'd added a whole foot to his height. I had to crouch to talk to him. FML

That's too bad I can't believe people tell tall tales like that

I see Tom Cruise is back on the dating circuit.

Wow. You just have such a hard, hard life, OP.

It isn't your height that turns them off. It is your obvious lack of confidence.

Also possibly the fact that they'll see she's a liar the moment they meet her.

Okay, so height is a big issue for you? You both weren't honest about how tall you were....but how'd the rest of the date go? Because IMHO, if everything else went great and he was a fantastic guy, I'd say the date was a win. :) Really, what's the measure of a man, when you include his heart? ;) (Of course, maybe he was a scumbag too, and everything else is irrelevant.) ;p

Yes, relationships are always best started off with a lie. Oh wait, no they aren't. I'm not sure how either of you thought your lies about your height wouldn't be figured out as soon as you met. If you really feel the need to, lie about something not quite so easily discoverable, like your boob size or IQ.

To be fair, IQ's a pretty obvious one upon meeting someone for five minutes, unless you're referring to the actual specific number. If one adds a couple numbers to theirs, it wouldn't be too discernable. But one can't hide stupid, or fake intelligent, for very long.

I don't know about lying about **** doc. I love ******* and can tell what size them bad boys are! I don't discriminate against *******. If they got itty bitty *******,or tig ol bitties I love them all!

But Gypsy, if you love ALL boobs, what difference would it make if your date/girlfriends wears a padded bra? I know it's considered false advertising but most girls only wear them because a lot of clothes look better with certain types of bras. ***I also don't like my nips peaking through my garments. :P

It don't matter to me. Me and doc were just talking about knowing how big they are. Personally I think if a girl has the forethought to think about the thickness of her bra so she don't nip, that shows some class. And for me,class is VERY sexy.

It doesn't matter how tall... or short you are when you're laying down ;)

So you were afraid people won't like you because of your height... And yet, you were put off by this guys height... Hypocritical??

I think she was more put off by his dishonesty. Fudging your height by an inch or two is one thing, but lying so blatantly is a sign that he'll outright lie about other things as well.

Um, lying is lying. A "white lie" is as much of a sign of dishonesty as a bigger one is. Besides, OP didn't say how much she lied about her height. It could have been several inches for all we know. They both lied and should be very happy with each other.

She did say how many inches--"a few," which pretty much means two or three. Not an entire foot.

No, she said "a few" because that's what it seemed like TO HER. And of course she wants to make herself look innocent/defend herself, so she probably understated the amount instead of just saying the number to do so. Also, unless she measured her date, she can't accurately say that he was a foot shorter than he claimed. Maybe she exaggerated his lie to make hers seem less significant. (I mean, we already know she lied to him, so it wouldn't be surprising if she exaggerated the FML as well.) The fact is that they were BOTH dishonest.

I smell a hypocrite. . .a scent not unlike that of a jackass, with a hint of bitch. *takes big whiff* Yep, that's you OP.

I feel bad for short guys. I am a girl and 5ft4, a little short but its ok for females to be short in society. Guys are treated differently if they were 5ft4 or shorter.

I'm 5'3. Luckily, my fiancé is only about 5'6, so it works well for us :)

I'm 5'3" and my husband is 6'1" I have to say I definitely prefer my men tall.

I'm only 5'10", but my wife's 4'11.5", lol! Next to her, I'm André the giant! :D

That is the same height as my mom. She is a short little japanese woman.
