Today, I had a major falling out with my best friend. Angry, I sent a short text message to him explaining how I felt. I soon noticed I'd accidentally texted "I'm going to fucking kill you, asshole." to my boss instead. I'm still waiting on a reply. FML

Today, I was venting to a friend over Whatsapp about my annoying coworker when I realised I'd sent it to said coworker (always check which chat you are in while typing). I'd said, "I’m convinced Brenda is either possessed or just doesn't know how to be a normal human." I deleted it, but it was too late, as she replied with a smiley emoji and, “Can I help with anything, asshole?” FML

>I sent a short text message to him explaining how I felt >"I'm going to f*cking kill you, asshole." Someone can't communicate for shit. Also, someone is dexterity/functionally-impaired for such a slip-up between "best friend" and boss.

Why are you waiting for a response. You should be sending "Woops, sorry, that was meant for a friend of mine" and if your boss questions it, you should explain that it was an inside joke, so that your boss doesn't think you have anger issues.

Lie to your boss. Immediately. Don't just tell him or her that the text was meant for a friend; I'd recommend saying it was sent BY a friend, either by mistake or as a prank. In the future don't risk a text like that. And, ya know, consider whether you *do* have anger issues.

Is it really so hard to write to him a second later "Sorry *name*, I meant to send that to a friend of mine"?

OP you're an asshole. Grow up and learn how to deal with people in a mature manner. I hope your boss reprimands or even fires you because of your obvious immaturity and anger issues. This is a YDI to the nth degree!

1. Don't threaten over text/e-mail ect. That's kinda a crime, don't leave proof. 2. Text your boss like omg, sorry, I didn't mean to send that to you...

YDI for having your boss' cell number in your personal phone. Use their land line for business needs, NOT a private cell number. This simple rule of thumb would prevent things like this from happening. It would also make it much harder to drunk dial the boss at 2 in the morning. Any company that requires two way communication via cell phone should provide you and the boss with mobile phones for business. This way, you don't pay for the minutes accrued by carrying out your work duties. You would be unlikely to use it for personal needs, thus making these mistakes more difficult to make. I just don't see any legitimate reason to have your boss' cell number in your personal phone.
