Are you kidding me right now?!?! Like 30-50% of our nation is unemployed right now and I had to take a 10% pay cut just to keep my job. In this economy you should be thankful you even have a job right now, cause I know a lot of people who don't.
I didn't quite read anything about wanting to smack the OP's face in that
congratulations! you stumbled upon the concept of relativity! where EVERYTHING IS RELATIVE!! yeah a lot of people dont have jobs. but you dont see people NOT complaining about their lives because people in Darfur are losing their families every day, do you? you are on your computer and you have food to eat right? yeah a lot of people in africa dont have any of these things. but we still complain and we still create FML websites. because thats life.
first!
I posted this earlier, so if it shows up again, I'm sorry, but Such is life right now. I started working for my current job about 2 months after the guy I carpool with. In between the time he got his 2nd raise and I was due for mine, salaries were frozen for over a year. When they were unfrozen, he got his 3rd raise at the same time I got my 2nd. It's not worth losing sleep over with how many people are out of work right now.
We took company wide pay cuts last year and haven't gotten raises in years, but at least we have jobs. Be happy you have one too.
Work to their pay level then?
How is he ungrateful? He's working for every cent of his money; when the company starts taking it away--even if it's only a bit--there's a reason to be bothered by it.
you should work in singapore, they'll love people like you: Hire you and fire 10-20 incompetent bums
It's all relevant... If you work for 95% an hour you will end up with 95% wage at the end of the month...
It wasn't 5%, it was 5 cents. It's not the cut that stings, it's the lack of a raise.
#17 finally a logical mind :) unless OP is only being paid $1/hr (pretty illegal in the developed world) its not 5% only 5c. That being said... since you are doing so well there why push for a raise or leave and as you do so tell your manager you are going to tell a lot of people how they treat their good employees. see how fast he gives you a raise when he realises he has to do all the work :P
its not illegal to cut your pay, but it is illegal to have it that low. hello, we have a minimum wage. that is lower than the minimum.
omg u should quit!
he's not gonna quit over 5%, dumbass. he's just gonna slack off now.
Wow, I didn't think I'd ever recognize it if I find somebody I knew by a comment. Well, I probably don't know you as I think I'm on a different account, but definitely the same IT helpdesk company and building. Especially since your myspace page matches the location. I took the same 5 cent pay cut. It sucks being a contractor, especially since we make so little already.
