Today, I had my sweet sixteen party. All my best friends came to the microphone to make a little speech. When my boyfriend came to do his, he broke up with me. FML

lmao if i were at that party i would whup his ass outta tha window... which people do such a wicked thing.... whatta fag xO

Why were people giving speeches at your sixteenth birthday party? You've only been here 16 years. I doubt there's anything worth saying about you. 18th makes more sense, since you're legally an adult, maybe you achieved some great scholarship.... but it's still stupid. You've not even been here half the time of your life. Save speeches for when you actually accomplish something. Why do people make such big deals about 16th birthday parties?

Wooooooooooooooooooow. I'm sorry but you sound like a total bitch 153. People were probably giving speeches because they love and care about their friend. You don't have to be some huge success to have people that care about you and want to celebrate your existence.

Love =/= speech material unless you are confessing something about someone you literally love. Nothing wrong with celebrating your 16th birthday, but there's nothing to give a speech about. It's not that damned important. The fact she was given speeches makes me think she threw some huge ass party as if it were her wedding reception.

To be fair, OP did say a LITTLE speech. It could have been something really short, sweet, and simple. Besides, it could have been something that OP's friends planned on their own. For all we know, OP could be a fantastic person with friends who think she deserves a little bit of appreciation that she might not get on a daily basis. It never hurts to let someone know that you care about him/her. You're never too young to have someone say, "You're a good friend and we love you. We hope this is a special day for you." Or something along those lines. I don't see why everyone thinks it's such a big deal that there was a little speech involved. Obviously it's a special day. Is it really so wrong to throw in a few words to make it more special?

Wow, that sucks OP. I'm so sorry :-( I got dumped on my sweet sixteen, too, by my boyfriend of a year. but he didn't use a microphone and it wasn't in front of a bunch of people. You deserve better OP, that guy was a douchebag!

Half the commenters in here are idiots. You can have a "sweet sixteen" without it being a huge, extravagant, expensive party.

i assume that all you guys with something against parties were all losers in school. with sad, sad lonely lives which is why i don't completely hate you.

Awww...honey that's such a horrible thing to happen on your special day. The jerk just ruined it and any memories of the day.

You're going to hate someone just because they don't want to make a huge deal every year of their lives? My last few parties have just been cook-outs with family. Less presents, but more enjoyable conversation, and damned better food. I also find it hilarious you automatically assume someone's a lonely loser for disliking parties, whether it is the people here or if it's just people like that in general, especially since you're thirteen. You sound like one of those preppy chicks from the cliche shows about teen life. One day, you'll be all grown up and realize nobody's going to throw you any birthday parties and give you tons and tons of presents every year anymore, sweetie. You won't get a day off from work either. I'm sorry to break it to you, but it's called being an adult.

forget that idiot. you don't need him hun. if he's gonna be jerk like that he don't deserve any wasted time crying over or thinking about. you can find you a real man. someone that at least knows those kinda things should be kept said in private and not to embarrass you like that right out in the open. especially not on ur special day.

I'm sorry, but that kid has balls. I mean, her family was probably right there, too.
