Today, I had to console my bawling 6-year-old son and explain that his sister was lying when she told him that when boys in our family turn 13, they turn into girls. I'm not sure who disappoints me more right now. FML

Today, my 14-year-old daughter convinced my son that when he was born, he was actually born as a girl, but we wanted a boy so bad we had his gender changed. Now he wants to change back to a girl because now he doesn't feel right as a boy. Last year, she got her other brother to cross dress. FML

Today, my eight year-old son came to me and said he thinks it's time he started wearing bras. It turns out his older brother has been mindfucking him for the past several months and has him convinced it's something all boys his age do. I can't convince him otherwise. FML

Save your disappointment for a time when they actually deserve it. Your son is only 6, which means he is young and gullible. Little kids often believe what their older siblings tell them, so there's no reason to be disappointed in him. As for your daughter, she's 13, which means she's immature and, like most children, enjoy teasing their younger siblings. Don't make everything into such a big deal, save it for stuff that actually IS a big deal. No one was injured, no one is in major trouble, and your son will get over this and laugh about it someday.
