Today, I had to get a colonoscopy. Which wouldn't have been so bad if they had removed the camera from my rectum before waking me up. FML

"Rectum? I hardly knew 'em!!" On a more sensible note - that sucks, hopefully they removed it pretty quickly after you made them aware of it.

Ouch!! that wouldn't be a nice feeling.... idk why they were dumb and did that

Not necessarily 45. People react to sedation differently and the medication is supposed to make you groggy and unaware. But that doesn't mean that a person can't be awake for most of it, or wake up at different times. My meds interfere with the sedation and I am 100% awake. So not necessarily a mistake, more that bodies react differently to those meds. My mom was groggy, but aware of what was going on for hers. Many people also don't use sedation at all.

I feel ya. I woke up n the middle of mine becuz a med I was on for chronic pain attached t the same receptors as the knock u out drugs they give u and can u say out waking up t them burning and cutting away n when u start screaming they just hold u down n continue while some other nurse tries t figure out how t knock u out again :/

can you say that again but in full words?

27. They must've been taking a biopsy if they were "burning and cutting away." I have chronic pain and take meds for that too and have the same problem. They interfere with the sedation and I am completely awake for it. I had an endoscopy (down the throat into the stomach) and was 100% awake. That was pretty terrifying. They also injected Botox into my pylorus and it was burning and painful. If I have to go back for another scope I will be sure to tell my GI ahead of time that my meds interfere with the sedation and ask them to speak with a anesthesiologist before hand. I suggest you do the same if you're still on your meds.

Did they show u inside ur ass before they pulled it out?

"Which wouldn't have been so bad"? Not quite sure how enjoyable a normal colonoscopy is supposed to be even without a camera stuck up your bum.

That sucks, I woke up early as well during my procedure so I can feel your pain. It definitely puts a cramp in your style for the day.
