Today, I had to stand up on a train for my 4-hour journey. Why? Two pregnant women flew into unbridled rage with me over sitting in the priority seating, saying I was selfish. I'm recovering from spinal surgery. FML

And someone else couldn't get up for them? It had to be you and you only?

You should have explained your predicament to them and they probably would have let you sit

I think you sitting after have spinal surgery is more important than those it pregnant assholes sitting.

Being pregnant is NOT an excuse to act like an entitled bitch. This is one of those times where you clearly and calmly tell them to take a long walk off of a short dock. Spinal surgery is no joke and it's absolutely appalling that you were expected to stand for four hours.

Hormones from periods can be really overwhelming, so I can't imagine how pregnancy hormones could make me act. I doubt they were being rude on purpose.

Hormones aren't a get out of jail free card. Even when someone's pregnant, they can control their actions and what comes out of their mouths. There is no excuse for acting like they did.

Sadly they probably were being rude on purpose and thought they were entitled to the seat. Hormones can be a real bitch sometimes but that's not an excuse. I know waay too many women who use their periods as an excuse to be straight up bitches. I get hormonal on my period pretty bad but if I get too grouchy I always apologize for getting mad or snapping. Yah it's hard to control sometimes but you just gotta suck it up and try to be pleasant.

Nah sounds like the pregnant chicks were using their pregnancy as an excuse to be *****

Being a woman, with kids, I have seen so many, with a bun in the oven, use that for excuse. Op, don't give up the seat, if there is s next time, there genuinely playing, on emotions, and sympathy. Spinal, trumps

Stop being a bitch and stand up for your self, you deserve it.

I'm sorry but I know women who would work all day on their feet while pregnant. Those women on the train would survive standing on their own two feet.

tell them your side of the story and hopefully swap places after half the journey? I don't see why someone else not pregnant and not recovering from surgery didn't get up for either of you

Did they remove your spine during the surgery?

The subtle in this comment is real

I don't care about the discussion, but OP's username is the greatest thing ever.

You should have told them about your injury. And if even after that they still told you to get up then OP they are feminazis at their finest. Never invoke the wrath of one upon you.

It was very rude of them to shout at you, and I'm sorry you had to stand. Maybe because those seats are traditionally used by the pregnant and the elderly they just couldn't compute. Most long-distance trains in the UK have a seat reserving option, couldn't you have saved yourself the hassle? Unless there isn't an option to get one near the exit?

Sorry for your troubles. On a side note, a 4 hour train ride that didn't have assigned seats? I've never heard of such a thing.

@28 Amtrak of California doesn't have assigned seats. (I don't know where Op is, I was just giving a bit of information.)
