He's just stalling so he can get rid of his girlfriend before you get home. It's usually guilty people who are the most suspicious of their spouses.

If you give in to his controlling demands you basically just make it easier for him to continue to be a controlling asshole. Put a stop to it now if you don't want to spend the rest of your marriage under his heel. Also he's probably cheating on you.
