Today, I had to take my husband's laptop to University for an in-class exam. I opened the screen, and loud porn started to auto-play. The silence in the class was deafening as I tried to make it stop. FML

You should always completely shut down your laptop when carrying it around or you might damage the HDD. Also ALWAYS check what you left open/is on the desktop if you know people will see your screen (also goes for presentations) to prevent exactly this situation. So a little bit YDI on your side but mostly FYL because your husband is either too dumb to close his shit or thinks it's funny to prank you in a professional setting (some teachers/profs won't take things like this lightly!)

There are plenty of laptops that have solid-state drives that don't have any moving components like hard-disk drives. You can carry them around without worrying about damaging anything.
