I think most adults, whether or not they admit it, have irrational fears. I love the dark and still fear it, sometimes. I freak out when I'm walking through my pitch black apartment at night. I have a completely irrational fear of robbers, too. I have to have everything locked, including the riot lock, to sleep well. I've never been robbed and my apartment is unlikely to be robbed, because I live above a printing company--not exactly a lucrative heist. But these fears don't debilitate me. I master them as well as I can, recognize they're irrational, and deal with it. I don't need sleep medication or anti-anxiety meds. Maybe you should see a psychiatrist or psychologist. I'd try a psychologist first, to try and avoid needing medication to deal with your fear. I'd go to a behaviorist, if you can find one around you.

Sama here. I couldnt sleep along because still have a fear of the ghosts. I had to beg my 14 year old brother to let me sleep in his room before. I had to take a shower in 5~10 mins cuz there might be ghost in the bathroom. Im afraid of being along. I moved out 2 years ago. Now I live with my bf so there's someone who can sleep with me and take shower with me. This was one of the biggest reasons I decided to have a bf. Im 21.

I find it hard to believe you HAD to tell him about the monsters. You could have just said you get anxiety at night.
