just drop the caffeine and carbs/sugar and you'll be fine..... That is, after an excruciating withdrawal worse than heroine, lol.
you obviously have a computer so why don't you spend the time you're using staring at the ceiling to do something productive or learn something new?
why don't you ********** it helps you sleep. cured my insomnia.
Just go to the drug store and get some OTC sleeping pills. Anyone can buy them.
37, don't suggest melatonin for people who wouldn't know what they're doing with the stuff. Not only does a good dose put you out within an hour, your body has trouble actually getting to sleep, which causes problems such as lucid dreams and hypnagogia, which causes its own problems. I tried it once and got scares shitless when I had a nightmare right after falling asleep, which happened to entail not breathing enough in reality, and being unable to wake up. Sure, it could happen on its own, but that sort of thing is directly tied to using melatonin. And it's not a vitamin, it's the neurotransmitter that controls sleep and wake cycles.
#61, as an insomniac I feel free to say "**** you". ಠ_ಠ
mhm nice rack 66 ;)
fail 68... fail
Yes, please listen to 62. OTC stuff can have complications too. Anything other than Benadryl or Dramamine, including Nyquil or anything labelled PM or Nite, "traps" me in those lucid nightmares or gives me a restless legs-type reaction in my legs and arms. Both are worse than not sleeping at all, IMO. OP: Maybe look into meditation or self-hypnosis tecniques. You can usually find free classes through the library, New Age bookstores, or by calling a few alternative medicine practitioners like acupuncturists. Good luck.
ouch, I have insomnia too. It sucks! try taking melatonin, usually found in the vitamin sections in the pharmacy,, 3-5 mg of that stuff knocks you out.
why don't you invite a girl over? and what if your dad is the one who's addictd
I'm envious of all you people who can actually fall asleep just using melatonin. Whenever I've taken it's just left me stuck in that weird state where you are awake enough to be aware of stuff going on around you but not really awake enough to be able to really react to any of it. I don't know if that really makes sense but anyone who has been in that state will totally get what I mean and understand how unpleasant it feels. To the OP I'm going to have to agree with everyone else who has advised you to speak to your doctor because insomnia can be a sign of a serious medical issue. I'm not saying it necessarily is in this case but definitely good to check into. Plus they will be able to advise you in things you can do to help yourself sleep. I also advise exercising because it will help burn up some of that excess energy which is keeping you awake.
105---/ I love that living dream like state.
smoke weed it's better for you than sleeping pills. seriously
and it's scientifically proven to help people sleep and boy i can tell you
105: That state"s known as "in the grey" in my house.
lol i bet your dads addicted to those ***** and hes being greedy haha you should smoke a couple bowls that will put you to sleep real quik

That seems like a good enough term for it TheIrishJaneDoe, in any case it seems to describe it well enough. #116 It's not really dreamlike in my opinion, it's more like paralysis to me. I hate being able to hear or see the stuff that's going on around me and yet my body refuses to do what I want it to do.
I suffer from sleep paralysis now and again, and while it is pretty terrible, I've never seen a correlation between experiencing it, and taking melatonin the night before. While I only use it occasionally, I've known several other people who take melatonin regularly and have never experienced such things. (Which makes it very difficult to explain to them, I don't know how many times I've had to repeat that it is *not* a lucid dream!) This suggests to me that some people are just more prone to hypnagogia than others, although I don't doubt that melatonin, or other substances, may aggravate the condition. So, yes, I would recommend caution in using melatonin, as it is not just a vitamin, and some people can have undesirable reactions. Most people have a pretty good experience with it, though, and it's a relatively safe and non-habit-forming way to get a good night's sleep. My grandfather, for example, couldn't get more than an hour a night after my grandmother passed away. But with half a melatonin, he sleeps through the night and his health has greatly improved. My roommate can actually sleep at night after taking one, rather than staying up and crashing until the afternoon like he had done before. I think it's worth a try. You can, and should, always stop if you start to experience sleep apnea, extreme grogginess, or sleep paralysis. Other posters were simply suggesting it, but it's good to get both sides of the story.
#4 - I think op would have a hard time "busting a nut" due to the fact that she's a girl.
smoke a bowl duh
ahh 23, another grammar Nazi. I like the picture.
You're not "stuck". You could always read. Or watch movies, shows, documentaries. Or play games. Or ANYTHING... :/
#2, that would only make the insomnia problem worse.
make some obnoxious noise in the wee hours of the morning so it wakes him up :P
like masturbation moaning?
It does suck, but your dad is right. I'm an insomniac and my doctor prescribed me Lunesta... it's great... I can sleep and whatnot; however, if I don't take it, I CAN'T sleep. Sleeping pill dependance is a real problem. Try exercising to wear yourself our or some other non-sleeping pill options or talk to your doctor... not really a true FML but I know the feeling very well. :/
Well its the first believeable one in a while. I have the same problem, no pills for me :/ I'm on some light therapy shit, so basically I stare into light for 30 minutes; its bright as hell. It actaully is helping some so I would find a specialist to see if there are other options, a normal doctor might not know anything. I go to a sleep clinic and my doctor has the same issues as me. It might help you out a lot :)
5: I see your point, but what you're describing sounds like a physical dependance, not addiction. Those are two very different things. Dependance is a common result for many prescriptions when they're used properly. Addiction entails abusing your medication for whatever reason. Unfortunately, convincing someone who's uninformed about the differences can be nearly impossible, if you're the one with the "addiction" in their eyes. Then there's pseudo-addiction, which is a-whole-nother animal, and often the result of undertreatment. Grr. (Yes, I realize I'm projecting here, but at least I'm doing so in an informative way. So STFU. ò.ó)
Turn off the computer. Turn off the TV. Don't turn either back on. Get some exercise. Eat something healthy. You'll sleep fine.
^Agreed. "Insomnia" is one of those terms like "depression". They have a loose vernacular meaning nowadays, which causes people who truly suffer from the medically-defined conditions to be easily invalidated and discredited by the uninformed. I've thankfully never been a true insomniac, but I've had my bouts of pain- and stressed-induced sleeplessness. Those suck and are hard to treat, and as I understand it, they're both cakewalks compared to true insomnia. Insomnia and migraines top my list of "At least I don't have...", and since I live in constant pain, that says something.
said by a true nagga.
steal his pills, how hard is thattt?
even if she steals his pills what happens when he notices? or when he runs out? she will never sleep. I'm not an insomniac. I had a boyfriend that was and he made me stay up with him.... we would play video games all night I wanted to kill myself, and It didn't even help him it, it just made me more sleepy, and he would get hyped up, so then we would just have sex, that made him sleepy(; but you should definitely do some exercise(: -Tiffany(:
Try reading high school history books and listen to le Moulin from the Amelie soundtrack. Helped me.

Ok, those things may help normal people with sleepless nights, but, as an insomniac, I can tell you that those things don't help. We have a real problem that can't simply be reversed by changing our nightly routine.
