Today, I had to turn down an invitation to one of my best friend's birthday party because I had been scheduled to work. Little did I know that my job on that day would be setting up the tents, tables, and chairs for that very birthday party. FML

at least you got paid to be there? It wasn't the best situation and you couldn't really enjoy yourself but you kind of got to go . . . and do your job at the same time.

At least you will be attending even if you're not a guest. :)

It's better that it happened that way rather than you calling in sick to work or something for the party and then getting caught when you're there.

am I the only one who is confused on how this story made it on the site?

At least you didn't skip the party then have work call at the last minute and cancel your shift. I've had that happen, and it sucks :(

That sounds like a win win situation.
