why is this an FML? now you will be the greatest contributor to your friends party! At least you get to do something for them.
So your two choices were to go to work or go to work? Sounds like they thought you were the hired help anyway.
Look at it this way op you're getting paid to go to said party. Considering your friend is the client she might be able to work things out so that you're not working all night
