you could have left out the part about leaving your uniform at home. your post should have looked something like this: I spent $200 and 20 hours driving to go to a civil war reenactment. FML. And # 13, civil war reenactments are not "hardcore". Its also not hardcore to be injured while playing imaginary gladiators. I'm sure some of the actors in "Beauty and the Beast On Ice" have been injured but you don't see them claiming hardcore status. Get a job or something jeez...
to everyone ripping on the re-enactor dont knock it till you have tried it
Confederate or Union?
Wow, I didn't know there were so many haters for that sort of thing. I think watching/engaging in a fake war would be AWESOME. It's like playing with toy guns as a kid but more extreme
ah just buy a real gun and announce that you are from the future and win the war for yourself. if you have the opportunity to rewrite history, why not?
#6 my sentiments exactly.
halloween costumes are probably pretty cheap this time of year Solved. Next...
Agree with #22 Don't knock it till you've tried it. A bunch of us do various film shoots for the History Channel or major motion pictures "For example in the movie Valkerie during the North Africa scene they are mostly WWII Reenactors" make decent money too. Also keep in mind a majority of reenactors are either active duty or retired military and actually serve their country in real life. Pretty much the point of reenacting is to honor the veterans and try to educate the public on how life was in that time period. Plus without knowledge of history and the past it has a bad tendency to repeat itself.

To the people picking on him because he re-enacts the Civil War, wtf is wrong with you? Some of that stuff is pretty hardcore. Couple of my friends did that Roman Gladiators type stuff and they showed me pictures of an event where some guy got his arm broke by a 12 lb longblade and another where the guy was knocked out when some guy twirling a mace hit him in the face.
well, you're from the civil war. obviously you don't have cars. or express 24 hr shipping. lol
