Today, I just got back from a Civil War Reenactment in Virginia, my first big event in years. I spent over $200 on gas and food, and had to drive for over 10 hours both ways from Massachusetts. When I finally got there I realized, I had left my uniform at home. FML

Today, I was driving to visit my parents for the first time in two years. After spending about $4000 to make sure my car wouldn't break down on the journey, around the halfway point, the front tire popped and the engine blew out. I'm about 5 states away from both my parents and my home. FML

Today, I'm on a road trip with my wife and in-laws. After 8 hours of driving we stopped at a hotel to rest overnight. I was elected to go to the grocery store to get dinner. While I was gone, they ate at a restaurant without me. I spent $80 on groceries for the trash can. FML

Today, I had to drive 300 miles to a town where I thought I'd forgotten my purse the night before. When I got to the hotel I had been staying at, I found out it was actually in the trunk of my car. FML

Today, I found out that the reason I couldn’t buy a commemorative jacket to wear at my rugby club's 50th anniversary was because the event had already happened. I paid in full for the event, and it cost me most of my savings. FML

Today, I got on a two hour train ride to go to a concert. I had been so caught up in handling the train tickets that halfway to the concert, I realized I had left the concert tickets on my dresser. FML

Today, I had to drive down to my parents' house. On they way down, I needed to fill up on gas but unfortunately I'd forgotten my wallet at home with all of my cash and credit cards. I then had to call triple A and explain to them in all seriousness how I ran out of gas at the gas station. FML

Today, I drove six hours with a friend to see one of her favorite bands in concert. We were turned away at the door because the online site didn't say we had to be 21 to enter. I drove six hours back with nothing to show for it but an empty gas tank and useless tickets. FML

Today, I drove 3 hours to the Capitol and back to cash my winning scratch ticket of $2000. When I got there, it was pointed out to me that it wasn't in fact a winning ticket. I'd already planned a weekend vacation at an adventure park the next state over. I’m flat broke and rent is due. FML

To the people picking on him because he re-enacts the Civil War, wtf is wrong with you? Some of that stuff is pretty hardcore. Couple of my friends did that Roman Gladiators type stuff and they showed me pictures of an event where some guy got his arm broke by a 12 lb longblade and another where the guy was knocked out when some guy twirling a mace hit him in the face.

I totally concur with #25. BUT all of the comments for this FML are sooo much more funny than the FML itself!!!! I'm crying I'm laughing so hard!! I honestly didn't think people actually reenacted things like that, I sort of thought it was just a joke. BUT in realizing that people ACTUALLY do that sort of thing, kudos to you man. all the people hatin' on the guy, you are wasting I don't know how many hours on fmylife.com ... who's the loser now? my first reaction was def. the same as most "a civil war reenactment? really?" but come on people, we live in the grand United States, where people can spend their time doing whatever they want, including reenacting a war... (wtf?!) but hey, if thats what you enjoy, go do it. its not affecting me. plus i wouldn't mind watching, it would be pretty damn... amusing. :D So quit hatin' guys. like some others have said, don't hate it if you haven't tried it yet. OP: that SUCKS BALLZ im sorry that is an FML right therrrrrr

Okay, to the commentators: Most of you are assholes, stfu. Seriously? The guy has a hobby, better than most of you can say, I'm sure. I don't reenact very often, but medieval and colonial are awesome. Good excuse to whack each other with swords (legally!). Civil War is okay, but if I were using guns instead of swords I'd probably do WWII just because the weapons are cooler IMO. OP: Was it MTA you were going to? I was just there for the first time, was a targeteer in the Jamestown fort. Was awesome, but I got covered in burning gunpowder about 5 times. Civil war re-enactments ARE awesome. You, on the other hand, are less so. You forgot the ONE THING THAT YOU NEEDED and you didn't think to double-check. This means you suck at life. That's okay, though, because most of the people who are on FML suck at life. That's why we're all on here in the first place.
