Today, I learned my 40 year old father is marrying a girl barely a year and a half older than me. She told me not to be afraid to call her mom. I was torn between punching her in the face and vomiting. FML

Ask for money from her. She is your "mom" after all.

FYL if this is true, but it definitely sounds a lot like what was said in That Summer by Sarah Dessen.

While legal consent can be given at 18, statistics show that the majority of people do not truly see themselves as adults until 28. A 40 year old dating someone who still thinks of themselves as "a kid" is nearly as disturbing as a 40 year old dating a kid. The maturity difference between the two is incomparable. It is a relationship based solely on sex, and when one partner thinks of themselves as a kid while the other is far, far beyond that state of mind, the sexual relationship is inappropriate.

You should probably go with punnching her in the face and then barfing on her. That might sound mean but she deserves it

*feels a little ill* I wouldn't be surprised if it was my little sister. Serious Electra complex.

That's completely wrong on her part, even if she was much older. Step-parents aren't entitled as the same respect as normal parents when they come in the kid's life much later. Now I have nothing against age-differences. I'm dating a man 10 years older than myself and I typically prefer older men. That being said, I do admit it is a bit creepy to date someone the same age as your own kid. I would never date a man who had a daughter or son my age; that's creepy as hell. If my own parents decided to date someone my age, I would be at first put off, but in the end it's not my choice. I don't care as long as whoever they date is respectful. This girl is not respectful to the OP at all.

you shouldn't punch your new mom in the face
