Today, I learned my 40 year old father is marrying a girl barely a year and a half older than me. She told me not to be afraid to call her mom. I was torn between punching her in the face and vomiting. FML

Wow, definitely FYL. I'm all for age-difference relationships normally but when there's a kid involved that kind of stuff can really screw them up. I mean, it's nearly impossible to have a girl a year older than you as a mother figure... but then, if it was legal for him to marry her that means you're probably old enough to deal with her age. I'd say it's worse that she seems to be a bitch though.

That's kinda... I'm not gonna lie, that sucks. Yes, your dad DOES have his own life and can marry, date, and do anyone he chooses. But I will admit that marrying someone in the same age group as your children is messed up. And if they're in the same age range, and I'm going to assume you're in the 17-20 range, is even more messed up. And since the girl actually made a comment like that, she doesn't seem to be all up there, if in fact it wasn't a joke. So, I hope your dad breaks it off, or the marriage lasts as long as possible for whatever short while it'll be as the girl wants to go off on other guys, and your dad realizes that it's probably not too much of a good idea.

Thats so gross, I'd be pissed and feel the same way. My ex bf's uncle who is in his 40's is dating someone who just turned 18, it is sooo ******* creepy seeing pics of them together online X_X I can only imagine how his daughters feel. And ew #62, that doesn't mean he should marry her! I doubt it would last anyways, shes probably with him for money, and if not then she's gonna end up cheating on him with some hot guy around her age.

Its not so much the "younger woman" thing. If he's 40 and dating, say, a 30 year old, then whatever. But to date someone around his DAUGHTER'S age? I'm 20 years old, and my dad still calls me his "baby". So for a man to date someone the same age as someone he considers his "baby" is just...strange. Plus I don't think the age difference would have pissed the OP off so much if it wasn't for the girl wanting to be called "mom".
