He just needs to learn to take a joke. I am a blonde and I'll be the one to tell the joke and I never mind hearing one, and I proudly use the "I'm just a dumb blonde" excuse to my advantage when I do something stupid. Much better to have a sense of humour and enjoy life than be so upset over such stupid things. I'm sorry he didn't take it well though, but he just needs a sense of humour.
