On iPhone, 28 here. I'm just gonna say who cares. OP, muscle could be weighing you down. Not a bad thing.
Here's the skinny [from a Martial Arts Instructor and certified personal trainer], It's very hard for me to tell you what you're doing wrong with only 300 characters of story to go on but here's a few quick things: 1) Working out for an hour a day doesn't do you any good if you're not doing it right. An hour of walking on a treadmill for example will only burn somewhere in the 300range worth of calories, which is half the size of a normal meal. You need to exert yourself so that you're sweating and push your body. I'm assuming you're overweight so I'm not saying pop the treadmill up at 10mph, but do go at a speed where you need to push your body a little bit but are still able to maintain a full 1 hour workout. 2) What kind of exercises are you doing? If you're mainly lifting weights you're probably losing weight but not noticing it because muscle is much denser than weight. You could very well be gaining some muscle mass. In the long run you'd end up looking leaner, but it's going to take awhile. Though, if you're lifting heavy weights at low reps you're going to end up building very bulky muscles and not noticing much lean. When lifting go with about 35-40% of your maximum capability to lift and try doing a large amount of reps in a short amount of time to produce leaner muscles and cuts. 3) Calories are really just your ENERGY, which is why a lot of people fail when cutting calories. Cutting calories works for some people because by cutting calories you're also cutting other things you don't need [excess fat, sugars and carbohydrates]. Look at the foods you're eating, just because they're low on calories doesn't mean they're low on fats [don't go with non-fat, you need fat. . .Just don't go overboard]. 4) Additionally, when are you eating these calories? It's suggested that your biggest meal of the day should be breakfast, to help jump start your metabolism for the day. From that point you should be eating small amounts of food throughout the day to keep yourself from getting hungry. When your body is constantly hungry it retains more of the crap in food to compensate. We're not talking oreos, though, something healthy like a banana. 5) Also, assuming your body runs on a normal clock you shouldn't eat anything after 9pm [earlier if you tend to go to bed earlier than most people and later if you're a nightowl]. People get confused with this one and look for a set time but there really isn't one because it depends on your schedule. If your body is used to going to sleep earlier, even if you stay up one night until 3am, it'll slow down your metabolism to try to keep itself on schedule. I typically don't eat my dinner until 9pm but that's also when I get out of work and I don't generally go to bed until 1am.
it's 28 for my iPod, anyway, I wonder how long op did this diet, because you don't lose weight in one day, and that's sorta how I'm reading it, because op has just gone to a buffet...
you gained weight because your body was used to having less food. that's the bad thing about diets
She gained weight because a buffet is usually designed around eating much more food than a normal person needs to have ANY from a mental aspect you're conditioned to eat as much as you can, which is not a good eating practice. The old adage goes "your stomach should be filled with 1/3 food, 1/3 liquid and 1/3 air".
Losing weight is working out and eating in moderation... moderation is key. Although the human body can survive on straight water, you were missing out on nutritious food. When you're at a buffet, choose your food wisely if you want to lose weight.
Put the fork down!
Be patient! Weight loss takes time. And depending on your weight and the number of calories you are eating now, you make have to make several steps down before you see weight loss. Sometimes cutting cals isn't enough, you have to look at what you are eating as well as how much. Also, don't forget muscle weighs more than fat. So you may very well be losing "weight" while not losing any pounds. Keep up that dedication! Buffets are just horrible because you feel like you have to eat a lot of calories to get your momey's worth. Stay away!

How long have you been on your new diet/workout plan? Have you been keeping track of your measurements? You do know new muscle weighs more than lost fat, right? and if you weighed yourself the same day as your buffet, the added weight is just food in your intestines. Why do people always associate successful health plans with numbers on a scale?
How long have you been dieting? If you really haven't lost any weight perhaps you should see a doctor.
