Today, I let my brother borrow my car, as he had a job interview. I told him the tank was nearly empty and gave him $20 to put some petrol in it. Ten minutes later, he calls me, saying the car won't start. He filled it up with diesel. It's a petrol car. FML

Uhm. At least here in Canada. The diesel fuel nozzle is larger than the hole for a gas powered vehicle. So, you either have to force it.. Or have good aim. Sadly.. There's been more than a few people put gas in diesel vehicles. At least he didn't managed to start it and drown your system in diesel. Good luck OP

I guess he's not going to be borrowing you car anymore???

Well let's see, since both gas and diesel are petroleum products and most normal people call them gas or diesel, you probably confused him with your 1930s lingo. You deserved it

Did you notice that this is an Australian story? NOBODY calls it gas here. It's petrol, from the petrol station. Comment when you know what the hell you're talking about.

Too bad diesel nozzles are bigger than petrol nozzles and won't even go in the tank...nice try, come back when you have a real story

I want to know why the brother didnt stop when he realize the nozzle didn't fit...surely he would realize it was wrong...LOL

In the states, a diesel hose will not fit in a petrols input

Petrol and diesel are KINDS of gas.

Actually, petrol and diesel are liquids. It's the fumes from them that combust.

Your new car must not be that new or you Brits gotta redesign your new cars. You can't fit a diesel pump in any new gasoline vehicle in the states.

That's a lie. Cause the diesel pump won't fit in

My husband let some one borrow his truck once and they put gasoline in and it was a diesel. They just had to empty 5 gallons or so and top it off with diesel and give it a shot of ether and it went on its way. His dad owns a diesel shop so it all went pretty easy :)
