Today, I'm mourning the rabbit I've had since I was a child. I adopted him just after he was born and we've been very attached ever since. When I came home from school, I could smell a what I thought was a chicken roasting in the oven. But after I finished my dinner plate, my parents asked me if I had liked the rabbit. Yep, my rabbit. What the hell is wrong with your family?

I'm so sorry, dude. When my mom and my aunts were all kids, my great aunt did this exact same kind of thing to them. I'll bet they are just as horrified as you were.

At least they recycled XD But in all seriousness, hopefully the rabbit died natirally before they decided to cook it. Still is shitty for them to get you to eat it and not tell you what it was first.

That is beyond messed up. I am so sorry for your loss, OP.

You were obviously fine putting a rabbit into your mouth that you thought you didn't know and grew out of a plastic supermarket container of some sort. I'm not sure what to think of the double standard that it's fine to have animals you don't know killed for the sole purpose of eating them whereas everyone gets all Bambi once it's a pet. Meat is meat, no animal wants to die to help you eat.

Did you RTFA? OP thought it was chicken.

I'm going to be "That" person but... Found the Vegan!!!!

what the absolute ****? yea rabbits are food and taste good but you don't eat pets, was it that hard to go out and hunt one?!

Maybe the rabbit was purchased to be eaten and the child became attached to it. Ihad a cousin who had a pig names Pork Chop raised it just for food but that didn't keep his daughter from becoming attached

this is extremely upsetting to read. I cannot even begin to imagine how you feel. I would say this is abuse. animal and child abuse because they emotionally tortured you. I am thinking of you and praying for you in this difficult time.

Okay, that's just messed up. Your parents killed your pet rabbit for dinner? What the hell?

My grandmother did the same thing to me... I was a child and I had two cute small rabbits at my grandparents' place. One day I came home from school and saw my rabbits were gone. I asked my grandmother about them and she told me she'd tell me later, after I had finished dinner. When I was done I asked her again, and with a smile on her face she told me "they're in your tummy."

where do you live? Why would your parents do that
