Today, I'm working an 8-hour shift on less than 3 hours of sleep. In order to stay awake, I chugged 3 Red Bulls. Now I can't feel my face. FML

Hey, OP here! I can't believe this got published! These comments are great, I've been laughing for the last 20 mins. So to clear things up a bit, no 8 hours on less than 3 hours of sleep is not that bad, to an adult, I am 16 and have an anxiety disorder. The pills I take make me extremely drowsy, and I also happened to have a three hour practice that same night. I went directly from work to practice so the 3 Red Bulls were necessary. I will not be doing that again in the near future seeing as I could feel my heart beating in my chest all afternoon. And before I go, I did love it?? thanks everyone for the comments!

An 8 hour shift on 3 hours of sleep doesn't sound all that brutal...definitely not ideal but I've powered through worse. I think one Redbull would have sufficed...

Agreed. I used to work stupid hours all over the place and couldn't ever get into a proper sleep schedule, it was normal for me to go to work on 4 or less hours sleep several days in a row.

I just stayed awake for ~65 hours working the whole weekend and was happy to do so. Idk what OP does but this can't be all that awful.

Sleep deprivation sucks, but three Red Bulls is a bit much, OP. Hope there aren't any lasting effects.

Where the hell is the YDI? Even if getting only 3 hours of sleep was beyond your control, drinking 3 redbulls is not. I've worked several 8 hour shifts on little sleep. No need for that many energy drinks. You are going to kill yourself.

I'm sure I'll get tons of downvotes for this comment, but I work 10-12 hour shifts at least 3 times a week on 3-4 hours of sleep. It's not that hard to do...

Different people have different limits to what their body can handle. Like someone who regularly goes long-distance running can easily say "a marathon's not that hard"; maybe for them it's easy but for many it would be a huge challenge. It's great that you're able to work long hours on little sleep but remember not everyone is the same as you.

Welcome to the average military work day

I'm an adult and I sympathise! Sure I've had to do it a few times but nothing beats a good night's sleep. Actually you know you're an adult when you start getting to bed early so you can have one!

Please please be careful with drinking a lot of these especially at your age. I stupidly drank four full throttles when I was 18. Never again.

I know how you feel! I recently worked for 15 hours with no sleep AT ALL the night before. Felt like there were bags of rocks on my eyelid and my feet hurts soooo bad! Last year, when I had some problems going on and couldn't sleep well, I drank up to 6 cans of redbulls a day for few days in a row at my previous workplace. I didn't get the "can't feel my face" thingy, but my nose kept bleeding every five minutes for four days. I was so scared I stopped drinking redbull for quite sometime. :D

I know how much it suck to go to work on little sleep. Sadly I have to do it all the time. I have insomnia so I work the night shift add sleep during the day, but it's usually restless and interrupted sleep. OP you tried what you thought you had to in order to stay awake. You learned from you mistake though so that's good. I'm sorry you had such a hectic schedule with little sleep. That does suck, and I do sympathize. On a separate note, I shall share a funny story with you. One time, I bought one of those 14 hour energy shots, didn't read the label, and chugged it. I chased that down with a pot of coffee and a one ounce of Mountain Dew. My morning relief told me that I was speaking so fast it amazes her that I didn't choke for lack of oxygen while speaking. I didn't have any physical problems so I got lucky.

Only 3 cans? I got though 4 litres in one heavy shift pearl-diving, and when I Moved across to be a commis chef I switched to espresso. About half a mug with 7 or 8 sugars is a great pickmeup half way though a split shift.
