Today, I moved back in with my parents in order to help them with the mortgage, so they don't lose the house that has been in our family for three generations. I also found out that I now have a curfew, and so does my husband and our 3 year old son. FML

if the house has been in the family for 3 generations, then why are they still paying a mortgage?

how are they still paying on the mortgage if it's been in the family for 3 generations?

This one was easy. Tell them they cannot expect your help if they treat you as a child when you in fact have your own family to take care of. And that if they don't comply to those oviously fair terms you will of course move out. Stupid fml is stupid.

^ yeh, this. Just move back out if it's an issue.. you're doing them a favour. Be an adult and talk to them.

ohhh god some parents just can't ever let it go

....... seriously. u couldn't just send them money... and I'm guessing ur moving back in to save them does not make them a 24/7 babysitter hence the curfew... just a guess. ooooo poor parents

Ughhhhh u have them by the balls, just tell them you wanna make things hard for us then we will move out and let see how you pay your bills

#18 is right. that's EXACTLY what I was thinking. WTF? 3 generations and still have a mortgage?

Why is there still a mortgage on a house that's been in you're family for 3 generations?

For the love of God people, use your brain. The op said 3 generations. She has a 3 year old son. Her parents, herself and her son = 3 generations. The house could easily be in her family for these 3 generations spanning a relatively small number of years - certainly more than a mortgage term of 30-40 years. They could also have remortgaged for a number of reasons that are, frankly, not important to this FML and not really any concern of ours. Also, who gives a shit if the house isn't paid for - its not the main point of this FML, perhaps you are lonely up there on your pedestal and like to shit down on the little people to make yourself feel better? It sucks that the op has a curfew but she is in a strong position to negotiate it. Good for her for helping out her parents though.

"Her parents, herself and her son = 3 generations" Uh, no. She said the house had been in the family for three generations. That generally suggests that three generations have 'owned' it. Pretty sure the 3 year old has not yet owned the house. In fact, sounds like the OP hasn't either. So if we are going by what she actually said, it sounds like the house has been in the family since the OP's grandparents or great-grandparents. If she was including her son in saying "the house has been in the family for 3 generations", she is exaggerating.
