Today, I moved back in with my parents in order to help them with the mortgage, so they don't lose the house that has been in our family for three generations. I also found out that I now have a curfew, and so does my husband and our 3 year old son. FML

you fail for 3rd generation and still paying for a house what you do take a second mortgage

why would there be a mortgage on a home that's been in the family for 3 years? If 'family' sold the house to 'family' then why should you care to keep- what kind of family would sell each other a house?

Usually when a home has been in a family for multiple generations, not 3 years, it belonged to parents who passed it on to their children when they died, who then passed it to the next generation of children when they died. There are many families who have lived in the same town for years that pass on their homes from generation to generation.

fake! why would there still be a mortgage after tree generations?

you parents and grand parents are obvious losers for not having paid off their mortgage yet.

How has a mortgage gone through 3 generations?

You're over 18. They can't make you do anything. Stop complaining and simply refuse to come home before curfew.

Call me old-fashioned, but I think it's a sweet idea when I hear about a three-year-old who still has a curfew.

Yes, but the PARENTS, and no one else, should set that curfew.

YDI for being dumb enough to help people who still haven't managed to pay off the mortgage in three generations. I get it that people borrow to make repairs etc but even the most run down money pit house does not take three generations to pay off - unless someone was doing some amazingly stupid things and/or doing fantastically expensive and unnecessary renovations.

if the house been in your family for 3 generations why is there still a mortgage?
